Greg Corron
Greg Corron has provided software development services to Expressways To Learning® since 1990. He has overseen the transformation of the software from that time, when it was little more than a collection of 13 floppy disks, each containing an individual activity such as See-Write or Clue Hunt. His first task was to consolidate them into one program containing the various activities; yet, the audio lessons for the reading system were still on 450 cassette tapes.
When computer audio became technically feasible, Greg coordinated the recording, editing, and quality control of these audio lessons. Consisting of tens of thousands of separate audio clips, the first CD-ROM version of Expressways To Reading® was over two years in the making. A similar process was required to convert the audio lessons for Expressways To Math®.
Greg worked with Dr. Hoes over the years, assisting in the production of Quik-Comp®, AdVocab®, and Basics Express® (now incorporated into Expressways To Reading®). Greg also wrote the lesson material and exercises for Expressways To Math® Level II (Lessons 95 to 165). More recent audio additions to the software were recorded using his voice. Many parts of Expressways To Reading® were transformed from simple audio to synchronized audio and visual, including Orbits, Tick-Talk, Rhythm-Speak, Word-Flow Read, and On The Beat, as he collaborated with Dr. Hoes and Lorinda Halla Hoes over the years. The latest innovation, ETL Student Central, uses the Internet to bring together teacher and student, making distance learning even more practical, and makes the management of student records easier and more reliable.
He attended the University of Arizona, majoring in Math, with minors in Computer Science and Physics. He has always had a persistent curiosity to understand how systems work, whether computers, number theory, or even houses. His wife of over 30 years, Marion, can attest to the fact that there is always a remodeling project going on in one part of the house! Greg built their first house in Arizona in 1996. They currently live in Boise, Idaho.
Greg is a trained classical pianist and enjoys performing works by Beethoven, Ravel, and Bach. He also writes frequent articles on Christian apologetics for his blog. His consulting business, Bridger Tech Services, specializes in software development for a variety of applications, including accounting and insurance billing systems. Former clients include Delta Dental of Idaho and Cougar Mountain Software.
